Mrudula Rao, M.D. is a Clinical Assistant Professor, Division of Psychiatry, at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Rao is in private practice, specializing in the treatment of adult, adolescent, and child psychiatric disorders. She is a Consultant Psychiatrist at The Center for Health Care Services and also at the Jewish Family and Children Services. Dr. Rao is double board certified in adult, adolescent, and child psychiatry. After earning her medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile, Dr. Rao completed residency training in adult psychiatry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and affiliated hospitals Audie Murphy Veterans Administration Hospital in San Antonio and University Hospital. She has also underwent residency in child psychiatry at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and affiliated hospitals San Antonio State Hospital, Southwest Mental Health Center and Santa Rosa Children's Hospital.
Dr. Rao is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Psychiatric Association, the Bexar County Medical Society, the Bexar County Psychiatric Society, the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, Texas Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Texas Medical Association and the Association of Women Psychiatrists.
Dr. Rao has worked with children and adolescents in residential settings, in juvenile detention centers and on probation.
